Alert Orange in the South Dakota Rest Areas
Here are some photographs of a Rest Area that I happened to visit in South Dakota in July 2006. It is interesting to think of the time spent painting the Stub-Toe Trip Hazards as compared to the time required to grind them and actually eliminate the hazards. These are the types of Trip Hazards that are spaced far enough apart and seemingly minor until someone actually trips and falls.
Our Sidewalk Savers approach could eliminate the minor problems before they become big problems. And just think of the benefits from eliminating Alert Orange Paint on the Sidewalks!

Children on tricycles, mothers pushing strollers, and especially people using Wheelchairs really know how much of an annoyance a Stub-Toe Trip Hazard can be. A 1 inch bump in a sidewalk can seem like a Brick Wall to a four year old on a new bicycle or to a wheel chair rider.
These hazards could be so easily eliminated if every Rest Area, every homeowner, and every maintenance department had the Sidewalk Saver equipment on site for regular preventative maintenance.

Very interesting! I and my son were riding our bikes recently and actually passed a few orange lines very similar to ones shown. Should learn more about sidewalk grinding. Thanks.
